Somewhat more -- well, not "urgent," but -- "time-sensitive" stuff in the "Update," "Photobucket," and
"Challenge the Yankees" threads immediately preceding this... but just for everyone's mild amusement,
and relief from our crabbing and grousing, there's this...

Collectors on board here are well aware of the occasional eBay auctions that use photos stolen from
other eBay auctions (honest ones) or other websites to represent what they claim to be selling.
Happened upon one yesterday that appears to be selling a game we own. Not as in "another example
of a game we own," but the actual one and the self-same game.
Here's our game, which we photographed ourselves:

We still own it, and it's on-line in the "Brief History of Tabletop Baseball" article at our main site, here:
http://baseballgames.dreamhosters.com/BbHistory.htm

And here's the auction, which we reported to eBay with no result as of yet:

No idea what the game they're actually selling looks like, or even if they're actually selling anything at all,
but it gave us a chuckle.

Copy this image and post it everywhere

I'm sure, if you can prove it's the same game, eBay will take it down.

This happens many times with baseball cards.

Nope, eBay could not care less. Auction still in progress four days later, three days remaining:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-basebal ... 2775955605

We don't care about them using our picture (almost flattering in a way -- there must be
a few dozen other photos of the game on-line, and gee, they thought ours was the best),
all we care about is any potential collectors out there or on board here getting ripped off,
because who knows what the vendor is actually selling (if anything). It probably is
an example of a 1971 Sher-Co game -- if they had nothing and were just gonna take the
money and run, you'd think they'd steal a photo of a Zimmer's or a 1906 Fan Craze and
bag five figures instead of seven bucks -- but what condition their Sher-Co is actually in,
or how complete it is, is a pig in a poke...

Late in the game, the vendor added a second photo showing part of a pristine SherCo gameboard,
and some cards and markers from another game which we can't identify off the tops of our heads
(of course, that pic may merely have been lifted from somewhere else on the interwebs as well).

Anyway, eBay user b***i bought it for seven bucks plus another seven for shipping. We're gonna
keep an eye on it just to see if there's any complaint filed by the buyer... If "b***i" is someone
on board here in the Forum, let us know what you actually receive!
